Collaboration: Vivian Wong, The Origami Society of Toronto & School Children
December 2017
The Wishing Tree is a collaborative work assembled from a variety of origami models. Trees adorned with wishes and offerings are a longstanding tradition in Japan during festival times. The glow of natural light illuminates the folded paper shapes, which in their volume and intricacy represent community and beauty in the ordinary things when people come together and small, individual acts join the efforts of others.

Toronto Reference Library
The Origami Society of Toronto worked tirelessly on this patriotic theme. We displayed numerous models and taught visitors a variety of Canadian themed origami including one my favourite’s the racoon designed by our very own OST member.
The Cosmosphere (Miyuki Kawamura) was a collaboration of members and consisted of 1800+ origami units which has a Canadian flag on one side and the Japanese flag on the other., Another OST collab was the 150 sign made out of show case units (Ayako).
